Have a little fun with your function with a Cannon PC media center. Cannon PC offers excellent configurations and takes our “TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award.”
Cannon’s media centers come with either an Intel Core 2 Duo or an AMD 64 3800+ with an over–clocked FSB for gamers. We looked at the Intel version; although, both the AMD and the Intel have their selling points.
This PC is an excellent system and can easily compete with our top choice. Unlike other systems it comes with an interactive 7” touch screen, which usually costs extra. The only thing Cannon lacks is immediate customer support through chat or IM.
The version we reviewed has an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 that runs at 2.13 GHz. This is fast enough for most uses, however Cannon also offers an AMD version with an Athlon 64 3800+ with an over–clocked front side bus of 2000 MHz. This version comes with over–clock protection and FSB tuning for gamers.
This system has 2 GB of RAM and a 400 GB Seagate hard drive with native command queuing. This is enough memory for most people and the RAM is sufficient for running Vista if you want to upgrade later.
The Cannon has a GeForce 7900 PCI–Express x16 256 MB video card that supports DVD–I, s–video and VGA outputs. It has Intel high definition audio with Dolby Digital Live 5.1 surround sound ability.
Wow, this model comes with a wireless keyboard/mouse combo with a 30 ft range and a touch–screen. It also includes a Microsoft Windows Media IR remote, five open USBs (AMD version has two more), two FireWires and a dual TV tuner. It also supports DVI and HDTV. For burning and disc reading, it has a Pioneer DVD/CD dual layer writer. For your cameras, it has a 12–in–1 media reader.
So, basically this system can connect to all media devices including most cameras.
This system is a little costly at nearly $3400, but it does beat out the Voodoo which is $3700.
The Cannon comes with a one–year parts and labor warranty. For assistance, you can contact them by telephone or email. They also post FAQs, tutorials, downloads and user manuals.
